Of my favorite animal images from 2009!

My assistants Cameron and Jennifer!!!  I am happy to announce that they will again be working with me in 2010, untill they graduate from the Colorado School for the Deaf & Blind. I have found Cameron and Jennifer to be very hard workers and filled with passion for the world of photography. They are both very energetic, fun, and they bring an amazing sense of energy with them each morning! So let me introduce you to them……

Jennifer is our shy one, as Cameron and I like to tease her about, but don’t let that fool you, because Jen is a beautiful young lady, filled with a great sense of humor and talent. She is always happy to share with our clients and is also very innovative and creative, whether she is working behind the scenes or behind the camera. She has a natural artistic side and is great with our younger clients and families! I believe that her own artistic side, you should see her illustrations, has brought another view-point to her own photographic style and I can’t wait for you to meet her.

Cameron is an up and coming photographer who is a natural, behind the camera and in the studio. He is a very talented young man who has a natural eye for setting up the shot and getting the look he is going for. Cameron also has a fun side and isn’t afraid to show it,  he is a natural with people and always ready to share a smile and get to know you and your portrait needs! Cameron brings his own artistic look and feel to portraits and is so much fun to work with.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two talented photographers, as I am sure they will go far in their chosen careers and I hope that you, my clients and future clients will come into the studio and give Cameron and Jennifer a warm welcome and the opportunity to share their photography talents, with you and your families!

I thought that since this is a new year and a new blog, that I would take a moment and let you get to know me, the person behind all the photography equipment. My name is Lisa and I have loved photography since I was introduced to my first camera, in a Jr high art class. Boy that almost seems like a million years ago, some days as I am much older now and far from the person I was back then, lol. But one thing has remained the same my love of photography, the beauty that I see every time I put my camera in my hands and look through the lens, and my love of this art form. Some people paint on canvas, some people form clay into works of art, and I pick up my camera. If you catch me on a good day, you may never get me to shut up about the artistic side of photography, weather it is used in journalism, city or nature scapes, or in studios for portraits so watch out for me on that part, but I will leave that for another day!

Who am I, hmmm I guess you could say that I am not as complex as some would think I am, lol. I spent the years before I married my husband, in restaurant/bar management and I am glad that I spent my time in the service field. It has taught me a lot that I am able to carry on into my life now as a business owner, a wife, and a mother to five children.  I came from a large family, I was number 5 out of 6 kids and I can tell you honestly there were times that I both loved it and hated it,  just try getting into a bathroom when you have 4 sisters and an older brother and you are the little one in the family, lol! But I also loved the time we spent together and the late night talks that I shared with my sisters and brother, so for me it was a no brainer when we decided to have our own family, I wanted a big one!

I have been married to my best friend, my confidant, my inspiration, and the one who isn’t afraid to tell me to pick myself up and try again for nearly 17 years and we have been together for 18 years. It has been a crazy, fun roller coaster ride for us. We have gone through the good and the bad together and we look forward to each day we have been given, because one never knows when tomorrow might not come. I guess you can say that sounds all gloomy, but when your husband is a soldier and leaves for 12 to 15 months at a time to war zones, you take it as it is, each day is a blessing for us and we try to never let a day pass without letting the other one know how much we love each other and what we mean to each other.  You can also say this man is more than my husband, he is my inspiration and my personal hero. Lol, you might be surprised to know that from 1000′s of miles away, on a 20 minute alloted phone call that crackles and sometimes more often than not drops, how he can inspire me to push forward with my dreams. Can you tell this man is my world and after all this time how much I love him?

Ok, now on to our children who we are very blessed to have and I literally mean that! We have 5 beautiful children – three girls who are 16, 10, and 7 and two boys who are 12 and 5 and they are the light of my life! We were told after our first child was born that we couldn’t/wouldn’t have any more children. Guess you could say I am a bit hard-headed and stubborn ( I am not afraid to say I get that from my dad’s side of the family, thanks and I love you dad!) and together my husband and I decided that no was not an option and now our home is filled with more love then we thought possible! Our children are teachers and I am not even sure they realize it, because they have and continue to teach me every day since their lives began, the true meaning of life, love, and who I am in their eyes and hearts! I love being a mom and am thankful every day for the children we have been blessed with and whom I love more than I thought was possible.

Ok, so if you got this far you know my family/s, my resumé, so nope I can’t put it off any longer, lol, time to tell you about me. I am almost 40, I love to learn and you can usually find me with a book in my hand. I am an outdoors nut and love animals. You might be surprised to see that my portfolio also has a ton of photographs of dogs, cats, tigers, monkeys, and lol even squirrels! I don’t think there is a form of music, I don’t like and I am not really into tv, unless it is Tuesday night and NCIS is on. I love kids and I am a sucker for happy endings, guess that’s why I love photographing military homecomings so much. And to sum it up, I love meeting new people and like to photograph their happy moments, cause that’s what it is all about for me, making sure that other people’s memories are preserved in a way that can be passed on to future generations! Hope you have a great day/night and thanks for getting to know me a little!

But I wanted to share a few of my new favorite photographs of last year’s holiday season with all of you. This year was definitely different from the past two Christmas’s for my family, as my husband who is a soldier with the Army, was home with us. We took the kids ice skating, watched the ballet, magic and puppet shows, and the kids visited with Santa Clause.  I don’t know who had more fun at the party we attended, the kids or their dad and I, but I know the kids and I will agree that it was the best Christmas ever.

I love this next portrait because  just as I was about to take the shot, this sweet little girl stepped up and asked if she could hug Santa too? It was so sweet watching my kids move over to let her in and how Santa laughed as he got more hugs.

Hi and welcome to Lisa Lee Photography Studio’s new blog! It’s a new year and I am ringing it in with a lot of changes for both the studio and several new lines of photographic products, that I am now able to offer you and your family. I am also going to loosen up a little bit this year and introduce you to a more personal side of myself, giving you a chance to get to know me, the people in my life who are my greatest inspirations, and why I do what I do.

I will also introduce you to new clients and some of my own personal portraits from recent photo shoots, introduce you to the crazy and busy life of a photographer, an Army wife and mother of 5 children ranging in age from 16 to 5 years old, and to my assistants Cameron & Jennifer from CSD&B.  So sit back, relax, and catch a glimpse into my world and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!
